Bruce Campbell was born on the 22nd of June 1958, in the same hospital as Sam Saimi Was born in the following year. Bruce, Sam and Scott (Spiegel) all attended the West Maple Junior High School. Bruce said: "My first brush with Sam was a fleeting memory, It was in the hallwayof West Maple Junio High school, which Scott Spiegel also attended. Sam was dressed as Sherlock Holmes, playing with dolls in the middle of the hallway, and i just walked around him, and headed on down the hall." Sam says that he doesn't recall Bruce that day and that he was making a video movie with a friend that day. Anyway, Bruce first became interested in acting in 1966, at the age of eight. Bruce explained: "It extended from the fact my dad also wanted to be an artist." Bruce adds "So he got into this community theatre group called St Guild of Cranbrook". Bruce went to watch his dad with his mom and two brothers Don and Mike Campbell, and explained: "I saw my dad in 'The Pajama Game', in these really wierd clothes singing and dancing with women that weren't my mother. He looked really happy. Something in my head said "Okay, if he can get away with this as an adult, if he can still be a kid, that's what i want to do." It didn;t seem likely though, as Bruce was still very young and to join the St Guild of Cranbrook you had to be eighteen. However, the Guild did use kids in various productions every summer, in 1971, when Bruce was thirteen, the Guild held auditions for "The King and I". Bruce auditioned for the important part of the kings eldest son. He didn't get it, but was cast in a lessor role as one of the kings other sons. Then, a little later he got a phone call explaining that the kid playing the son got sick, and did Bruce want the part? Bruce said "Of Course" and he played the role "I think the show came off very well". When Bruce was twenty, he officialy joined the St Guild of Cranbrook.
